By implementing large-scale rooftop solar infrastructure, KFL is proudly contributing to a cleaner, greener, and more energy-secure future — setting benchmarks in industrial sustainability.
Rooftop Solar Power Plant
At Kribhco Fertilizers Limited (KFL), sustainability is not just a vision — it’s a continuous commitment. As part of our ongoing efforts toward environmental protection, energy efficiency, and supporting India’s renewable energy goals, we have successfully installed a 2MWp Rooftop Solar Power Plant on the railway siding platform of our Bagging Plant in Shahjahanpur (UP).
This initiative directly supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to clean energy, climate action, and industry sustainability.
Key Features of the Rooftop Solar System
Location
Bagging Plant, New Railway Siding, KFL Shahjahanpur

2 MWp (divided into two 1MWp sections)
Total PV Panels
3,008 high-efficiency mono-crystalline panels (665 W, 21.6% efficiency)
Covered Area
9,344 square meters rooftop with aluminum-zinc sheets
Inverters
16 units of 100 kW each, 3-phase, with 98.7% efficiency
Annual Guaranteed Generation (Year 1)
Approx. 26.4 lakh kWh (units)
Peak Monthly Generation
Over 291.5 MWh (April 2024)
Weather Monitoring
Data logger system installed for solar performance analysis and fault detection
Safety
Equipped with lightning arrestors, fire safety features, cleaning nozzles, and walkway
System Design & Power Distribution
- The system operates on the photovoltaic effect, where solar radiation is converted to DC power, then converted to AC via synchronized inverters.
- Power is routed to two 1MVA transformers, integrated into existing MCC sections (A & B) without major modifications.
- Average bagging plant load is ~300 kW; surplus solar power is exported to the Urea Plant, ensuring zero energy waste.
- Expected degradation:
- Year 1: 2%
- Years 2–25: 0.55% annually
- Guaranteed Generation (Year 1): ~26.4 lakh kWh (26.4 GWh)
- The system includes data logging and weather monitoring for real-time performance tracking
- Lightning arrestors, cleaning nozzles, walkways, safety rails, and handlines ensure safe and efficient operation
Environmental & Operational Benefits
Reduces natural gas consumption in Gas Turbine Generators (GTG)
Supports load during peak summer and high humidity when IGV performance dips
Lowers carbon footprint and enhances KFL’s green credentials
Promotes clean, renewable energy adoption in line with national sustainability goals
Performance Snapshot (till April 2024)
| Month | Energy Generated |
