Green Initiative

Green Initiative

At Kribhco Fertilizers Limited (KFL) , environmental responsibility is deeply embedded in our operational philosophy. Our Green Initiative reflects a long-term commitment to energy efficiency, resource optimization, and climate-conscious practices, all while aligning with India’s national sustainability goals and global climate protocols.

As part of our efforts to reduce our environmental footprint and promote renewable energy, KFL proudly launched the “Solar Power Akshay Urja Pariyojana” on 18th January 2024. The project was inaugurated by our esteemed Chairman, Dr. Chandrapal Singh Yadav, marking a major milestone in our transition toward cleaner energy solutions.

Solar Energy: 2MWp Rooftop Solar Plant

In 2024, KFL successfully commissioned a 2MWp Rooftop Solar Power Plant atop the Bagging Railway Siding. The system features:

  • 3,008 mono-crystalline PV panels with 21.6% efficiency
  • 16 x 100kW inverters for high-performance conversion
  • Covers 9,344 m² of rooftop area
  • Generated over 770 MWh of clean energy in the first four months
  • Surplus power directed to the Urea Plant for optimal load sharing
  • Includes weather monitoring, lightning protection, and digital fault tracking

This project significantly reduces dependence on fossil fuels and supports cleaner energy adoption across plant operations.

Water Management & Recycling

KFL maintains a strict Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) policy to conserve water and protect surrounding ecosystems:

  • Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) for industrial discharge
  • Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) for domestic waste
  • Condensate recovery systems for reuse in DM water generation
  • Boiler blowdown reused as cooling tower makeup water
  • Treated water reused throughout the plant

Waste Reduction & E-Waste Management

  • 100% process waste water is treated and reused
  • E-waste is disposed of through authorized, pollution-control-certified recyclers
  • Encouragement of paperless work environments
  • Safe disposal protocols for sludge and other non-hazardous solid waste

Green Belt & Biodiversity Enhancement

  • Over 65% of the total plant area is covered under green belts
  • More than 15,000 trees planted within and around the township and plant area
  • Focus on native, low-maintenance species for long-term ecological benefit
  • Green areas help in dust suppression, temperature control, and improved air quality

Carbon Emission Reduction

Through the use of solar energy, efficient fuel utilization, and waste heat recovery, KFL actively reduces its greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Estimated reduction of over 1,000 tons of CO₂/year
  • Additional savings expected through energy optimization and future clean energy adoption

Certifications & Compliance

  • ISO 14001:2015 – Environmental Management System
  • ISO 9001:2015 – Quality Management System
  • Regular compliance with MoEFCC and Pollution Control Board norms
  • Active reporting through six-monthly environmental compliance reports

Our Vision Ahead

KFL envisions an even greener future. Our roadmap includes:

  • Expanding renewable energy capacity
  • Exploring waste-to-energy models
  • Implementing smart energy tracking systems
  • Promoting green culture across employees and stakeholders

We remain fully committed to a sustainable, climate-conscious future that benefits both agriculture and the planet.
